What is CUBS Week?

An Earth Month Initiative

Each year, the Ripple: The Center for Ecosystem & Education Studies, formerly CFWEP, partners with Butte schools for a week of stewardship. Students from schools across Butte spend time picking up trash in the community and learning how to protect our streams through safe stormwater practices. 

Together, Ripple and Butte schools organizes hundreds of students as the clean up more than 100 bags of trash and work with from their neighborhoods and community waterways. 

Every year from 2022 on, more than 500 students from the following schools have helped clean up trash and learn about the importance of safe stormwater practices:

• Montana Tech
• Whittier Elementary
• West Elementary
• Emerson Elementary
• Kennedy Elementary
• Margaret Leary Elementary
• Butte Central High School
• Webster Butte High Career Center
• East Middle School
• Silver Bow Montessori

The students earned pizza parties in celebration of their stewardship. Keep Ripple in mind each year during May if you’d like to get involved.
